As part of the academic induction program, a special Library Orientation Session was conducted on 30th July 2025 exclusively for the newly admitted students of B.A. Semester-1 (History Department). The session took place at the Veer Shaheed Vinod Kinariwala Library from 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM.
The orientation was led by Dr. Sandip Patel, Librarian, who introduced the students to the academic and research support services provided by the college library. The session focused on the following key areas:
- Overview of Library Facilities and Services available to students
- Introduction to Subject-Specific Resources relevant to History, including reference books, historical archives, and periodicals
- Hands-on guidance for using the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to locate books and materials
- Explanation of Library Rules and Borrowing Policies
- Insight into E-Resources and Digital Access, including databases useful for historical research
- Introduction to ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) – a national initiative that grants access to a vast collection of scholarly journals and research material at no cost to students
Following the session, students were given a guided tour of the library, allowing them to explore various sections and understand the organization of resources.
This orientation proved to be a valuable initiative in connecting students with the academic infrastructure of the college and encouraging the effective use of library resources from the beginning of their academic journey.
