A Library Orientation Program was successfully organized today for the newly admitted students of B.A. Semester-1 at Gujarat Arts and Science College. The session was held in Room M-5 (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hall) of the Main Building from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Dr. Sandip Patel, Librarian, conducted the orientation and addressed the students, highlighting the essential functions and services provided by the college library. Key topics covered during the session included:

  • Library Services available for students and faculty members
  • Library Resources such as textbooks, reference books, journals, newspapers, and magazines
  • Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for searching and locating books within the library
  • Library Rules and Regulations to ensure proper use and discipline within the library
  • E-Resources and digital tools accessible to students for their academic and research needs
  • ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) – a government initiative that provides access to a wide range of academic e-resources, journals, and databases at a national level. Dr. Patel explained how ONOS ensures equitable access to scholarly content for all students and researchers across India, including those at Gujarat Arts and Science College.

After the orientation session, students were guided on a physical tour of the college library, where they explored various sections, including the reading area, reference section, circulation desk, and digital access facilities.

The program was highly informative and provided the new students with a clear understanding of how to effectively utilize library resources to support their academic journey.
